Those going to court in a procession are not freedom fighters: Ram Madhav

BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday said that leaders are eager to go to jail and go to court with a procession but they should remember that they are not freedom fighters but accused, who are about to go to prison.

In an attack on Congress top leadership, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday said that leaders are eager to go to jail and go to court with a procession but they should remember that they are not freedom fighters but accused, who are about to go to prison.

“Now-a-days Netas are eager to go to jail…they go to court with a procession, but they should not live in confusion…they are not freedom fighters…they are ‘apradhi'(accused), about to go to jail,” he said, after unveiling a statue of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar at Malpura.

There were freedom fighters who had fought for India’s freedom, spent 27 years in jail, but they did not bow down before Britishers (Angrej)…today’s ‘netas’ going to court in a procession were not like them, he was quoted as saying by the party spokesman, he added.

Madhav also said that BJP was a national party of youths whose leader is 64-year-old Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who works a minimum of 20 out of 24 hours. In last 18 months, he (Modi) has not taken a one day leave and is working for every common man.

In a veiled attack on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, he said, “in contrast to young PM Modi, there is an old man of 44 years (44 saal ka buddha) who needs break/ vacation for two months after every fourth month…he remained absconding for 57 days out of the country”.

Recalling Savarkar’s contribution in pre-independence era, Madhav said the BJP got inspiration from him, and giving a new direction and status to the nation.

It was most unfortunate for the nation that Opposition party (ies) had labelled and propagated him as “communal leader, a fundamentalist leader. It was wrong as he worked for the people and nation in pre-independence movement”, he said.

Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose had visited Savarkar and a few of them took his blessings, the BJP General Secretary said.

Hailing Malpura Municipal Council’s efforts to set up Savarkar’s statue, he said, the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, and JL Nehru were being seen everywhere, but it was rare here that people remembered Savarakar, also a great leader, politician and poet-writer.

He called upon youth to follow the path of Savarakar like any other great leader, and should fight against unemployment, poverty, and not indulge in personal clash or enmity.
