The one-year rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought back confidence among people that the country is in safe hands and would prosper, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav has said.
He was speaking at a meeting here on Sunday where retired IAS officer K.V. Rao from the city joined the party.
Putting behind the corruption of Congress from Bofors to coal scam, The BJP ushered in a new political culture, he said. He said that educated and experienced people joining politics was a good sign and was indicative of using politics as a means to improve the lot of people through administrative measures.
State BJP president and Visakhapatnam MP K. Haribabu said anyone working for the ideals of the party was welcome.
Mr. Rao said he was not joining the party for any position and would fulfil any responsibility given to him.
Prema Samajam president and noted businessman Kancharla Ramabrahmam also joined the party.
MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, MLC-nominee Somu Veerraju, former Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, and State general secretary Ravindra Raju participated.
